Of Valon and the War between Cho-Rak and Reshall

Valon
Here the land is more fertile and thus more populated than the lands north of it. They have a good navy. The Sinking Lands in the south of Valon are a mosquito - ridden swamp filled with strange creatures and only a few of the old tribes still live there. Some of them have great swamp ship-like vessels called Swideurs that have shallow draft and outriggers for stability and they are used for trading long distances for example between Bonneau, Leton, and Leport. Sometimes they even come as far as Redrunes and Reshallian traders meet them on the old trade road at the edge of the swamp. The wine of Valon is very popular in Reshall. Valon has had many wars with Szinnh and the last battle was a rather decisive one around 150 years ago. They are very territorial as a people and did not tolerate the Szinnh coming further north than their mountains and there was a huge and bloody battle in the fields, now called Chamdemor, and the Szinnh were driven back all the way to the pass at Feux afterwards. Since then the Szinnh have held a low profile. They (Valon) are currently allied to Reshall.

The following is a bit of history and what happened at the end of 1067 in connection with the war with Cho Rak:

937 Cho and Rak unified.
992 Cho Rak expands northwards over the river.

Cho Rak attempts to invade Iltharn with about 15 000 troops.
Thrown back by the Iltharnian army helped by Reklarn and Rhydena Cavalry.
20/12 -1067 the 15 000 Cho Rakians were defeated.
First Blood went to the Iltharn Reserve Bowmen vs the dismounted Cho Rakian Lt Horse Auxilia.
Reklarn lost all troops, Rhydena lost 1 Cavalry element (about 1000 troops).
The Iltharnian Reserve Pike killed the First Cho Rakian General Tu Gath, thereby winning the battle.
The Iltharnian Reserve Pike killed some key elements of the Cho Rakian Group 2 force causing their demoralisation and pulling out.
The Cho Rakians lost about half their troops.
The second General, who may have been Zurin, got away.
Rhydenan Cavalry leader Lorini Ferrel, survived with honours.
Estevaeo Torean the leader of the Reklarn Force is dead. They lost mostly Cavalry.

1 068 (new year) Darrakan elects to stay neutral; no resupply of the Reshall Navy, but no raiding supply lines either.
1 068 (winter / early spring) Fortification of Iltharn.
Similar preparation takes place in Cho Rak. Some troops move northwards, but mostly the infrastructure is set up for a massive campaign in the spring.
Reshall sends a naval expeditionary force to the islands south of Cho Rak at the end of winter (30.2.68).
Riga prepares for a defensive campaign, and a counterattack in the spring.
Valon prefers to remain neutral, but prepares to move eastern army if necessary.
Darrakan prefers to remain neutral, and makes its position very clear to all sides, but allows Reshall ships to buy food and water, etc on the quiet.
21.3.68 Just before the rainy season is due, Riga counterattacks! There are many battles, and the end result is that Cho Rak is partly driven out of S. Riga.
1 068 (30.3)The Reshall Naval Expeditionary Force starts attacking sea trade into southern Cho Rak. Care is taken not to really piss off foreigners or subject peoples.

Cho Rak sends scouts into southern Wyrmland.
3.4.68 The Reshall Naval Expeditionary Force blockades southern Cho Rak.
All sides begin a partial mobilisation.
Reshall sends scouts into Wyrmland in force.
Riga panics!
Reshall tries to persuade the Rigan navy to blockade western Cho Rak / southern Riga, but Riga feels overstretched.
Cho Rak starts to feel a bit overstretched after the big losses in Riga.
Reshall sends everything else into Wyrmland to meet / harry / delay the Cho Rakians It is not enough.
Valon sends another 10 000 troops into Wyrmland as the Cho Rakians have trespassed on Valonese soil! . They are slow about it, but the troops still arrive in time to pull the Reshallian troops' chestnuts out of the fire.
They stick around for a while.
1 068 (late campaign season) Vasheim (~ 30 DBA Elements, including most of the Griffin) and most of the more mobile forces in Iltharn (~ 15 Cavalry elements) invade northern Cho Rak.
Cho Rak starts to feel very overstretched.
Cho Rak chews a bit at Riga, but must send troops back to relieve the Northern Capital.
They retain a foothold in southern and central Wyrmland.
Reshall (and possibly Valon) garrison northern Wyrmland.
15.5.1068 There is a change in leadership in ChoRak and they cease agressions, consolidate and the war peters out.
